A warm North Carolina welcome! I am glad you are here.
Three decades ago I traded the start of a music making career for marriage and homeschooling kids. Today the kids are grown, the marriage sagely seasoned, and so here I am.
I am a Christian psalmist, but also a soul rocker, also a Big Band singer- and just love all that "Earthy Gospel" stuff.
I grew up old school and analogue. My record player was stacked with albums from Andre Crouch to Stevie Nicks to Keith Green, Aretha, Ella, Bach, and Gershwin. Today my songs still write themselves informed by all of it.
With no regrets, home and family during crucial creative years meant investing in many things other than getting music from the non-physical to the physical, and learning how at this point has been painful and rather lonely. But, there is much to be hopeful for in the creation of new things- and honestly I’m not sure what else there is really to do in life than to chase that God spark.
Hope Kemp Music exists to be a place to make something that doesn't add to the noise and helps settle the soul, even if the only soul paying attention is my own.
So, If you are here to give a listen, thank you! I believe we have things to say to each other- I would love to hear from you too.
Hope lives in North Carolina and is married to Mark, a local dentist. She is the mother of four children, two daughters-in-love, and four perfect grandchildren (and two more on the way!)
