Official Bio

An independent artist in her sage-season, Hope Newman Kemp is a piano-driven songwriter and soul singer dedicated to the renaissance of the Christian imagination as culture care for home and community. Please visit www.hopekempmusic.com.

August 2018 Hope released her first concept album, "Hoping For Real: Songs Inspired by The Velveteen Rabbit" as a way to debut theatrical and thematic songwriting. The project is produced by Ben Hardesty (The Last Bison), and intentionally imprints his folkchestral design style in elegant and inviting complement to Hope's accessible roots soul vocal and piano delivery.

Whenever possible, Hope also indulges her Big Band Jazz passion as vocalist for the Alamance Jazz Band. This Spring she is recording a Jazz EP of standards with Stephen Anderson and his band. Hope and husband Mark live in Burlington, NC and together are trying to get better at a new found hobby: Ballroom Dance. "When Hope comes to a women's event, she comes as a sister wanting to minister to sisters. What flows beyond her genuine musical gift is the Holy Spirit's work to draw women aside from life's urgencies to engage their hearts in knowing and adoring Christ." Cathy Moffett, Conference Lecturer and Guest Instructor- The Biblical Women's Institute at Southeastern Seminary, Wake Forest, NC

“Hope is an accomplished singer, pianist and worship leader. Our women were drawn to her honesty, humble spirit, and her desire to connect with us on many levels and she provided many beautiful moments of worship for our retreat. You will not be disappointed in her musical ability, her gentle sweet spirit, and her desire to lead women to deeper depths with the Lord through music.” Teresa Crawford, Director of Women’s Ministries, Salem Baptist Church. - Apex, NC

“Antioch has been blessed to sit under Hope’s accomplished ministry on our church’s worship team, as well as enjoy the many original songs that the Lord has given her. I can honestly say that Hope is a genuine worshiper, and what God brings forth in her singing and leading is a product of scriptural depth and of excellence in her craft.” Pastor J. Mark Fox, Antioch Community Church. - Elon, NC

“After ministering with Hope at a conference on Prayer, I knew she had a special gift. There is a special anointing from the Lord on her music and a presence when she sang that touched people quickly and deeply. Her music is more than a “performance” — it is worship. There are a lot of talented musicians in and around the church today but authentic worship leaders are still rare. It cannot be trained or taught — only caught from the altar of heaven. While talented musicians can give a heart-warming performance, only an anointed worship leader can lead you into the presence of the living God. Hope has that ability, anointing and calling. As one who has been blessed by her music over and over again, I can enthusiastically recommend and endorse her for church services, conferences and retreats. She will be just as warm and approachable off-stage as she is on stage because she is relationally motivated by the love of Christ.” Dr. J.L. Williams; Founder, New Directions International, Professor-at-Large: Carolina Graduate School of Divinity.

"Hope is a talented musician and vocalist. Her ability to do both well at the same time is an indication of her amazing talent. With her joyful demeanor as she performs, she captures her audience's attention and draws them into the music and song." Barbara Holt, Administrative Director and President, NC Right to Life

“Hope is a gifted worship leader and a serious christian who actively seeks after God for how to encourage others to grow in their walk with The Lord in their worship of Him both personally and corporately. Her leadership tremendously enhances the message and practical application of the teaching aim and retreat theme. As a retreat speaker, I have been personally encouraged and challenged by Hope’s gifted worship leading. Our retreat was a success because of her example of drawing first to the Savior and then surrendering to His direction-Hope exemplifies this precious model. She is a gift and a blessing-your retreat or event will be richer as she leads you to offer the praise of your lips to our Most High God.” Allison Pickard, Retreat Speaker and Teacher. - Raleigh, NC

“Hope is a teacher and learner at heart, and our women have benefited from her knowledge of scripture and her encouragement for all to worship the Lord out of hearts of gratefulness. As she has ministered at our retreats faithfully every year, her heartfelt praise for the One who is her greatest Love has been infectious! Hope is very well-prepared and focused, and it’s obvious when she leads in song and in teaching that she has spent time in prayer, because she would never want anything but excellence in her ministry.” Cindy Fox, Pastor’s wife and Director of Women’s Ministries, Antioch Community Church. - Elon, NC
